Why is the republican convention HERE!!
by betty boop indoes anyone know the reason why the republicans decided to hold the convention here in ny?
i have to say, its quite annoying already to have to commute into manhattan with thousands of people already, but now they make it worse!
and its close to the 9/11 anniversary and the big cities are always a target why are they bringing more attention to an already targeted place?

..and it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be, but it wasnt great either. I wouldve normally avoided going to anything dub related, but my best friend had her babyshower on sat. night and invited practically everyone i know, so i had to go. I was a lil nervous cuz i hadnt seen everyone altogether for over a year but everyone was surprisingly receptive. They all thought i looked nice, which was good cuz you how they all believe when you leave the borg you become "ugly" outside and inside. I looked pretty good () and felt that way too cuz i thought oh well i can still associate with everyone but dont necesserally have to be one of them. My friend looked great and i was so happy to see her, My mom and brother were there as well. Towards the end of the party the questions came.."did you go to the convention, what congregation do you belong to", and my personal favorite "oh i thought you left, is it true or not" with menancing eyes..i tried to avoid the subject whenever it came up but ended up just making everyone happy by saying oh yes i still attend to so and so congo and i went to the this and that convention..and then whoever i was conversating with would go..oh ok good i thought you were gone..i would just roll my eyes and think why am i lying. i think i did it cuz it was my friends babyshower and i didnt want to have any uncomfortable moments. i wanted to have a good time and make sure she did as well, so i thought it better to avoid altercations. i did feel a lil nostalgic i have to admit, some of my girlfriends from growing up were there and we were all pretty close so they were shocked to see me again after i disappeared for a year..As the party ended (pretty early of course) i called a cab and went home, thinking i wish i could be honest with them, but i honestly dont think theyll ever accept me for who i really am..which is a normal 23 year old who lives her life the way she wants to..I know im not wrong but i felt so lousy having to take off from the party being dishonest with eveyone...how could i handle the situation otherwise?

Do you love to dance?
by Maverick ini love weddings cause, "love is in the air", and you can ask any woman to dance and not get shut down.
when i went to vegas and we hit all the night clubs you could see all the couples sitting there around the dance floor, the women bobbing up and down off their seats and their guys sunk down with their butts glued to the chair.
even though i am not the best dancer, being one of those men willing to "shake that thing" i had a great time.

What is your Favorite Scene from a Movie?
by Sweetp0985 ini thought about this topic last night for the board when watching one of my favorite movies.. 1. the man from snowy river- the part when they are going after the expensive colt and they get to the edge of the cliff and all the other riders stop and "jim" keeps going and leaps down the cliff after the wild horses.
i absolutely love that part of the movie...everytime its on i have to watch it, if not just to see this part only.. 2. love and basketball- when she tells him she will play for his heart...awwww first time i started crying.
and then the music they had playing in the background made it even worse.

Breakfast at Tiffanys: Well the whole movie, lol, but i love when she is drunk and Paul carries her up the stairs and The Japanese neighbor is like "ms. go-lucky you have no respect, be quiet" Shes like "now you quiet down, you wanna wake the whole house" as she sprays perfume up in his direction. Its just funny
City of God: where the 2 little boys get cornered and are about to be shot. That was the most intense scene i have ever seen.
Titanic: where the orchestra continues to play amist all the panic.
Forrest Gump: the entire sequnce of him running from one end of the country to another. Just amazing.

What have you replaced the Sunday meetings with?
by Glenmore ini have got into the habit of checking this forum and then going out on the deck (which we call the church of flow, it's a perch about 30' up) and playing my guitar for an hour or so - particularly on nice days like today.
then i come back in, look a bit of tv, eat, read and stuff like that.
i consider my sunday's sacred, i won't go anywhere unless i have to.
-
betty boop
i have to admit sundays are a bit sad cuz i know that next is monday madness
although now that its summer i usually get up make breakfast and head out somewhere with my friends, movies, a park or even just to have dinner..nothing crazy, as my friend says Sundays are just "chill" lol
Yesterday (sunday) i went to the Dominican Day Parade in manhattan and laughed at all the boys trying to flirt with my friend and I, and her and i thinking arent they like 15!!! But it did make me want to go to the DR and see my grandma...
Then we went to Brooklyn to spend the afternoon with some friends in her backyard and i got bitten by all these insane mosquitos!! then we moved it all indoors and just laughed and laughed,..i rode the subway home falling asleep and almost missing my stop, then i spoke to my BF on the phone and went to sleep....sigh...
My favorite day is still saturday...I love that day!!!

Children at the meetings...
by desib77 ini've noticed quite a few "meetings" threads lately and thought i would add another one.
i remember when i was young, 8-12 years old, my mother would see a sister take her baby or children to the back.
my mom would get up and go back there with her.
-
betty boop
i did this alot!! when i was young it was my mom who did it and i stayed amused by the baby the rest of the meeting. after i got older and id go to the bathroom and find a mom with an infant id be like can i take him/her for abit usually theyd say yes very gratefully..it made the time pass alot quicker..if the baby cried the mom would get him/her from me but usually they were ok..as long as they had something to play with while they sat with me they didnt cry
